Violence

I am doing violence to the environment.

Each week, I drive to the airport, then fly to Dallas.  In my hotel room, I use towels once, then leave them on the bathroom floor. I drink several bottles of water each day and throw the empties in the trash.

I need to end the cycle of violence.

Cabin Fever

I can't quite believe it, but I am jonesing to get back on an airplane. I've been home since mid-December, and, even though I'm not billable any more and technically don't have to make any utilization numbers, I feel bad when I'm idle.

I want to get out there and work.

Long Overdue Update.

I haven't posted anything here in a long time, so here comes a massive update.

As of mid-December I officially work for Martin Buckley in Novell's Systems & Resource Management Business Unit, quite a change from my previous position as a Senior Architect in Novell Consulting's Architecture Practice.

This is a brand-new product and we're taking a very different go-to-market approach. What I'm going to be doing for the next 6 to 8 months is to visit clients to implement the product in proof-of-concept and pilot environments. This means I have very little time to learn everything there is to know about a product that very few people know anything about. Sounds like fun!

In other news, Nicholas turns 4 tomorrow and Olivia will be 2 in March. And I will be 41 in February. I don't know if 41 will hit me the same way 31 did. but if so, be prepared for some massive changes.

We've finally gotten the basement "finished" (although the storage room and garage side of things still needs some paint slapped up) and I'm enjoying working in my new office very much. It's quiet, comfortable, and most of all my own space.

I'm pondering a retoractive new year's resolution to post more entries here. If I decide to do it, you will be the first to know.

I'm working at a client in Cambridge, MA this week, and apparently he thinks I can be in three places at once. Oh, and also, I can get from Cambridge to Logan Airport in the blink of an eye, get through security, and slip through the boarding door just as the plane pushes back from the gate.

I'm So Unhip.

I keep confusing The Yeah Yeah Yeahs with Me Too and the Gimme Gimmes.

At The Zoo

We went to the zoo a few weeks ago, and I caught Nicholas at the water fountain.

I Am Nearly Old.

In just over three hours I will be 40 years old.

It doesn't seem possible. I still feel like the same kid I was last year.

But I guess I've done enough with my life by now that it's really true.

I'm old.
